Law 25.871 allows foreigners to obtain temporary residency when they can demonstrate an employment relationship in Argentina, whether as an employee or as a self-employed worker. For MERCOSUR and Associated States nationals, the process is simplified as no prior employment contract is required; they can regularize their immigration status simply by proving their nationality.
It is granted for up to three years. Renewable upon proof of continued employment. After two years, the holder may apply for conversion to permanent residency.
