Temporary residency for transit is granted to foreigners who enter the Argentine Republic with the sole purpose of traveling through its territory to another State. This category requires a specific Argentine consular visa issued for transit passengers.

It differs from passengers in continuation of journey, who do not require a visa and are allowed a maximum stay of 12 hours in the international transit zone.
