Legal counsel to obtain temporary residency by demonstrating a productive investment in Argentina.
The investor category allows foreigners to obtain temporary residency when they demonstrate a productive investment in the country. The investment must generate employment, contribute to economic development and comply with the regulations in force regarding foreign investments. Law 25.871 and its regulatory decree establish the parameters for qualifying under this category.
It is granted for up to three years, renewable upon demonstrating the continuity of the investment and compliance with the productive plan. After two years, conversion to permanent residency may be requested.

Foreign direct investment (FDI) is the contribution of productive capital by foreign individuals or companies in Argentine territory. The possibility of obtaining temporary residency as an investor arises from the National Migration Law 25.871 and its regulatory decree, which establishes the investor category for those who make a productive, commercial or service investment of interest to the country.
Law 21.382 on Foreign Investments guarantees equal treatment for foreign investors compared to nationals, allows the free transfer of profits and the repatriation of capital. Together with Migration Law 25.871, it enables temporary residency for those who demonstrate a productive investment.
The regulatory decree of Law 25.871 establishes a minimum amount of $1,500,000 for productive, commercial or service investment. However, this amount has not been updated since 2017, so in practice the National Immigration Office evaluates each case considering other factors such as the project's viability, job creation, economic impact and proof of the lawful origin of funds.
The investor visa grants temporary residency (up to 3 years, renewable) upon demonstrating a productive investment. Citizenship by investment, on the other hand, is the complete process that includes temporary residency, conversion to permanent residency and finally naturalization as an Argentine citizen. In other words, the investor visa is one stage along the path toward citizenship by investment.
Temporary residency through investment is granted for up to 3 years, renewable upon demonstrating the continuity of the productive project. After 2 years of continuous legal residency, the investor may apply for conversion to permanent residency and subsequently begin the Argentine citizenship process.
