Special transitory residency for sports events

Through Disposition DNM E 1846/2017, the National Immigration Office (DNM) established a specific transitory residency regime for participation in amateur sports events recognized by the corresponding Sports Federations. This category facilitates the entry and stay of athletes, coaching staff and officials involved in competitions organized within Argentine territory.

Who can apply

• Athletes who are members of national teams or representative squads
• Coaching and technical staff of said teams
• Members of sports delegations
• Judges, observers and other technical officials assigned to the event

Application requirements

• Compliance with the general requirements established by Decree 616/10
• A letter stating the applicant's personal details, purpose of stay and requested duration
• Indication of the corresponding consular representation (if applicable)
• Proof of prior entries into the country
• Any additional documentation that the National Immigration Office may deem necessary
• The sports event must be amateur and recognized by the corresponding Sports Federation

Duration and extension

The residency is granted for a period of up to one month, with a single possible extension for an equal period. The National Director of Immigration may exceptionally waive certain requirements for the Sports Federation when the event is of notable public interest.
