The B-2 allows tourism, family visits and medical treatment. They are generally issued as a combined B-1/B-2 visa valid for up to 10 years with multiple entries. The authorized stay determined by CBP upon entry is up to 6 months.

The process requires completing the DS-160 form and attending a consular interview at the US Embassy or Consulate. The applicant must demonstrate ties to their home country (employment, family, assets) that ensure their intention to return. The consular fee is USD 185 (non-refundable).
